# Flood Watch Remains in Effect for Rosebud County

**Rosebud County, Montana — September 20, 2026**

The **National Weather Service in Billings says a Flood Watch remains in effect through Sunday afternoon for Northern and Southern Rosebud County**, including the Lame Deer, Forsyth and Colstrip areas.

A slow-moving weather system continues to affect southeastern Montana, bringing periods of rain and the possibility of heavier rainfall.

### CONFIRMED

The National Weather Service says:

* One to three inches of rainfall may occur across portions of the broader watch area.
* Higher amounts are possible where thunderstorms persist.
* Excessive runoff could cause flooding of creeks, low-lying areas, poor-drainage locations and roads.
* Recent wildfire burn scars may face an increased risk of flash flooding and debris flows.

### What a Flood Watch Means

A **Flood Watch** means flooding is possible.

At the time of this update, Truth in Focus has **not confirmed a Rosebud County-specific Flash Flood Warning, evacuation order or major flood-related road closure**.

Residents near creeks, rural crossings, drainage areas, low-lying roads and recent wildfire burn areas should continue monitoring conditions.

### Safety Reminder

Never drive through a flooded roadway.

Water covering a road may be deeper or moving faster than it appears, and the roadway underneath may be damaged.

Truth in Focus will continue monitoring **Rosebud County, Ashland, Lame Deer, Forsyth, the Northern Cheyenne Reservation and surrounding travel routes** for significant changes.
